Boss Key Productions’ LawBreakers, Cliff Bleszinski’s first game since the Gears of War series, could very well release on consoles at some point. However, the port isn’t something the company could handle alone.

Speaking to Destructoid, Bleszinski stated that, “People are like ‘You’re never coming to console,’ and I’m like ‘I never said that’. [Boss Key is] 40 people. Even if we wanted to do a console version, we couldn’t right now.”

Even if Boss Key partners with Sony or Microsoft for a PS4 or Xbox One port, another studio would still be needed for development. “We wouldn’t be able to do the port ourselves. We’d need a really great partner that could knock it out of the park, keep it 60Hz, nail the controls, and make it fantastic.”

As for whether it would work on consoles, Bleszinski mentions a conversation with Epic engineers who pointed to Titanfall’s success on both PC and consoles. “Some of the Epic engineers came over and we had a conversation where I was like ‘Good luck porting this to consoles.’ One of them looked at me and said ‘Titanfall’s crazy wall-jumping, wall-running, and verticality, and that works on PC and console.’

“With the right amount of aim-assist and the right amount of little tricks, I could see it working. I wouldn’t want to do the cross-platform play, though. I don’t think the effort’s worth the outcome there.”

LawBreakers is a free to play shooter and will release sometime in 2016.

Now that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has been released onto the world, we’ve heard about a lost cutscenethat was left out of the game for one reason or another. We knew it wouldn’t take long for that particular cutscene to hit somewhere so now someone uploaded it on Youtube. While there are some things that clearly aren’t finished the scene in general seems like one that certainly would have been an interesting idea.

The video is almost 19 minutes long and is a combination of the finished product and some footage that was clearly never completed. Sometimes the cinematic switches from what looks like content that could be put into the game right now, to drawings to just a screen of text that explains what’s going on or will go on from one scene to the next. There is also quite an interesting dichotomy going on between some of the many characters that are front and center in Phantom Pain.

The game has largely been a huge success since it was launched in large part because the game and the story behind it is huge as well. It isn’t clear whether or not the scene was taken out of the game because they were actually not interested in having it in the finished version or because they just didn’t get it done in time. Check out the video below and get a peek in what almost was a part of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Germany is usually pretty harsh when it comes to violent content in video games, censoring excessive gore. However, it will be making an exception with Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 4 which is releasing uncut in the country.

The news was broken by Fallout’s official German Facebook page (as per NeoGAF) and it’s certainly a small victory of sorts for the franchise. Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas were censored in the country after all so German fans will essentially be getting the same game as the rest of us.

Fallout 4 is set to release on November 10th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will feature a brand new setting and story with tons of new features to coincide with its massive open world (which the developer claims still offered new things to see even after 400 hours of playtime). Will you be picking it up? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Square Enix has thus far been doing a good job of regaining fan goodwill and their former status within the industry in this generation- they released the well received Final Fantasy Type 0 HD, they are open and transparent with the development of Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3, which should both hit by next year, Dragon Quest XI looks amazing, Star Ocean 5 is a revival everyone wanted, Nier 2 is a game that nobody dared to even hope for, and Bravely Second looks like a far better game than Bravely Default in every possible way.

Their quest to single handedly prop up Japanese game development will continue at TGS this year with what might be an unexpected, secret new game- in their teaser video for TGS, they indicated that they have a “secret” game that will be presented on stage on September 19th, at 12:30 local time.

As to what this game could be, who knows? Might it be something to do with that Chrono teaser that Square Enix had back at E3?

Whatever it is, we’ll find out during TGS next week. Stay tuned to GamingBolt.

CD Projekt RED recently announced the release date for Hearts of Stone, the first major expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt along with a new teaser trailer and screenshots.

It will be out on October 13th and along with revealing some new details about the expansion’s main story, the Runeword system and a hint of the trials Geralt will face, CD Projekt RED also announced a limited edition physical retail copy for Hearts of Stone that includes Gwent decks and card sets.

Those who want to buy the digital version and don’t want to invest in the Expansion Pass can rest easy – Hearts of Stone is available as a standalone purchase. In fact, if you head to GOGnow, you’ll be able to avail of a 15 percent discount off the $9.99 asking price, bringing it down to $8.49. That’s not a bad deal for an expansion that delivers more than 10 hours of content.

Will you be picking up Hearts of Stone when it releases this October? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

The new Apple TVis getting ready to take on your Xbox, PlayStation, and Wii as the gaming center of the living room. Apple already commands massive third party support, as well as cross platform development tools that make development for their platforms an attractive prospect, so the threat of the new Apple TV is not one to be taken lightly. Now, it seems like it will have another arrow in the quiver, which will help it undercut the existing consoles- it might come at a very cheap price.

Speaking to The New York Times, insiders reported that Apple is planning on keeping the price of the device low- at $149, it would be more than twice as expensive as the current, three year old model which retails for $69, but it would still be $150 cheaper than the Wii U, $200 cheaper than the Xbox One, and $250 cheaper than the PS4. With Apple’s branding on it, it poses a serious threat to all of them.

The Apple TV will be announced, alongside a new iPad and two new iPhones, at Apple’s media event tomorrow. Stay tuned for further news.

Hitman is launching as a digital only ‘early access’ sort of game, at least at first. In the weeks and months following its launch, more content will be released for the game for free, and when it is complete, the game will also launch at retail next year.

With such an unusual model, IO Interactive and Square Enix have a job on their hands of assuring fans that this game will be worth their time, and that it is not a new cynical scheme to extract more profits. So far, they have largely done a good job of that, though today, they may have taken their first major misstep- the price of the pre-order for the game has been raised by £5 to £44.99, at least on the PSN Store, reports VideoGamer.

It’s unclear why this was done, but it will make it harder for those who were on the fence about this title to part with their money. Bad move, I say.

The third installment in From Software’s breakout Dark Souls series will hit next year, and for the fanbase, which finds itself splintered between the first Dark Souls game, and Dark Souls II, it will come as good news, as the game is going to take the best of both the games to craft a new whole.

Game Informer today reported on all the elements that the game will be borrowing from the previous two games– for instance, the fast travel system will be returning to the game, and it will function exactly like it did in Dark Souls II. Respecialization is also something that the game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, wants in the game, though he is unsure if it will work like it did before.

“I’m not sure if the same sort of item [as before] will be implemented, but there will be a method for players to re-assign souls,” Miyazaki says. This feature was sorely missed in Bloodborne, so it should come as good news.

We also got more information about New Game+, which will function like Dark Souls II’s New Game + mode- this means new weapons, items, and reconfigured enemy locations and placements, to keep players on their feet, and to keep them invested in playing through the game again.

Durability has always been a controversial aspect of the games- after a certain point, weapons in Dark Souls break. But in Dark Souls, the mechanic was never implemented well enough for it to amount to much, while in Dark Souls II, they went overboard, and weapons broke far too easily and frequently. For Dark Souls III, Miyazaki says he is looking for a balance between these two extremes.

“Still tuning the balance, but I personally think that the weapons in Dark Souls II break a little too easily. This was implemented intending for the players to try out many types of weapons, but even so, I felt they broke too quickly. However, in Dark Souls I, they didn’t break enough, and so I’m hoping to find a good balance for Dark Souls III. “

Miyazaki also confirmed that summoning and invasion will not work like they did in Bloodborne, where they were tied to depletable items, which stunted the PvP community’s growth. They will also not work like they did in Dark Souls II, where the Soul Memory mechanic made it hard for players to play with each other. Instead, the game will return to using the Soul Level mechanic for matchups from the original Dark Souls game.

Hidden walls are also returning to Dark Souls, and they will function like they did in the original game. “This is due to my thinking behind this type of feature,” Miyazaki says. “I like to have coincidences happen during battles, or accidental reveals due to swinging weapons around, randomly shooting arrows. I want to implement this sort of surprise discovery in a natural way when playing the game.”

In addition to all of this, magic will also be getting a massive overhaul in this game– it will no longer function like it did in either of the past entries. Instead, Miyazaki will be going all the way back to the original Demon’s Souls, and use its MP mechanic for magic in the game.

“By changing the magic management system to an MP scheme, options and freedom of utilization should increase. This way we can better clarify the differences in managing items and magic,” Miyazaki says.

He also confirmed that different kinds of spells would be appropriately differentiated.

“We will make sure that they are not just the same type of spells with different attributes (i.e. Spear type, lightning type) but actually have specific characteristics that can enhance the players’ play styles and strategies,” Miyazaki says. “Players will be able to have more criteria to accurately choose the different types of spells to best fit their tactics and strategies. This is similar to the thinking behind the characterization of each weapon and their specific battle arts.”

Dark Souls 3 will launch early next year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Obsidian Entertainment is busy with Pillars of Eternity, its successful crowd-funded RPG created in the style of classic titles like Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, and releasing the second part of the expansion The White March. However, it’s also working on a sequel to the game and designer Josh Sawyer told PCGamesNabout how it would take place somewhere different.

“I would say in Pillars 2, we would probably take it to some place which is not quite as familiar. Which is exactly what Baldur’s Gate 2 did. Baldur’s Gate 2 took you to Amn, to Athkatla, which is nearby the rest of the Sword Coast territories but it’s different enough that it feels new and interesting.”

Sawyer also talked about The White March being “the other side of the Infinity Engine equation, which is Icewind Dale” which heads to a hostile environment but one which isn’t very different from the main game. What locations are you looking forward to in the sequel? Let us know in the comments.

More details have emerged regarding Star Wars: Battlefront’s Drop Zone mode which be playable in the upcoming betathis October. Lead level designer Dennis Brännvall discussed it in a newand details provided suggest that it resembles King of the Hill very closely.

This 8v8 mode sees players of both sides rushing to capture five drop pods or hold the most number of pods before time is up. In case of a draw, an additional pod joins the battle, which must then be captured. It should be noted that the pods open to reveal Power-ups after which more pods will drop. It’s an interesting mode of sorts that encourages both capturing and holding points along with rushing to assault.

“We’re promoting the idea of a fast, action-packed game where you need to be mobile and think on your feet. Camping doesn’t really pay off.”

Star Wars: Battlefront releases in November for Xbox One, PS4 and PC while the beta goes live in early October. It will be available for anyone who signs up so stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Bethesda has shed some light on how the company is going to be handling DLC and other new content once Fallout 4 is officially launched this November. What’s most interesting is that the company claims it doesn’t really have any idea on just what the DLC might be, because it’s been working so hard on getting the actual game released.

The company posted on its official websitethat it expects to charge people $30 for the season pass. Bethesda claims this is actually quite the deal because they “know it will be worth at least $40” but you’ll get be able to get it for that smaller price tag as long as you buy the season pass. The company also said it will start releasing that DLC early next year. Bethesda also said that they will be bringing free updates after the game has released and they will be modeling their approach to this content in much the same way they handled Skyrim.

That means patches and fixes will be included in the free updates but there will also be new features included as well. Bethesda pointed out that with Skyrim there were, “mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more.” Considering the game is already supposed to be massive both in sizeand scope the extra content and features will likely challenge Witcher 3 for the title of biggest and most immersive open world adventure game in 2015. Fallout 4 launches for the Xbox One, the PS4 and the PC on November 10, 2015.

While CD Projekt RED has had quite a bit of success with the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it appears the company isn’t ready to rest on its laurels. We already know that the developer is getting ready to launch new DLC this October in the form of Hearts of Stone. The company will be releasing another piece of DLC called Blood and Wine in the first half of 2016. Just what is planned beyond that release either for The Witcher 3 or any other projects is anybody’s guess. According to CEO Adam Kiciński, CD Projekt RED will announce it’s upcoming strategy in March of next year.

It seems likely that the company will time this announcement to come shortly after they release that second piece of DLC and that means it will be about something other than The Witcher 3. During a recent financial call, the company boasted that sales of its newest game have been very good and that is allowing it to move forward with a number of new ideas. The developer has been narrowing those ideas down to a select few and the champions of that winnowing are taking shape.

The company also made it clear that it understands it’s fans are a big reason the game has had as much success as it has and the firm wants to make sure it’s honoring those fans moving forward. It’s a safe bet that The Witcher 4 is not going to be in the cards right away. Just what those new ideas are going to be is anybody’s guess. Cyberpunk 2077, may be?

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Siege is still a ways off but the developer currently has another closed beta in mind. It’s thus launched the Art of Siege, a community platform and challenge of sorts to help familiarize fans with siege warfare.

There will be a Field Training program for participants which comprises of different choices and strategies to be made. Those who complete 5 different Field Trainings will be obtain a key for the closed beta.

Art of Siege will also incorporate Wall of Tactics, a mural of sorts wherein each beta player can share a video of the best tactics employed, thus allowing others to vote and elect the best tactics overall. It’s an interesting social aspect to Rainbow Six: Siege and one to look out for when the game is available.

Rainbow Six: Siege will launch on December 1st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned for more information on the game and beta in the coming months.

Ever since Nintnedo’s former president Satoru Iwata passed away earlier this year, Nintendo’s series of webcasts, Nintendo Direct, that they used to communicate information about upcoming products directly to fans, has been on a hold. Since the success of Nintendo Direct was so inextricably tied to Mr. Iwata’s persona (he hosted most of them himself), and since we have not had any Nintendo Direct since his passing, even though we have had several major announcements from Nintendo, there have been fears that the series will end now, with his passing.

However, Nintendo has confirmed that it plans to continue with them.

“Nintendo Directs will continue,” the publisher told IGN, “but we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered.”

It is my opinion that there will be no more Directs for the rest of the year, out of respect for Iwata’s passing, but that beginning next year, Nintendo will revive the format, especially in the leadup to the NX launch.

The highly anticipated squad based multiplayer shooter, Rainbow Six: Siege, will launch with ten maps, Ubisoft confirmed today. More maps will be made available for the game over time as post launch DLC.

“As for now yes, there are ten maps, but we have more planned because we’re already working on more content for players after launch,” the game’s Level designer Benoit Deschamps told PC Gamer. he also confirmed that the team had originally had over 50 concepts for maps, but that they decided to cut it down to a more manageable number.

All in all, I think this is disappointing- a multiplayer shooter launching with only ten maps is bound to get boring soon, and this idea of selling additional maps as DLC reeks of cynicism. Unless, of course, Ubisoft do a Nintendo, and offer maps for free after launch, rather than asking users to pay for them, in which case it would still be disappointing, but at least not something I would necessarily hold against them.

Rainbow Six: Siege launches this December for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A beta for the game is scheduled to start on September 24.

Silicon Studios is the company most known for Bravely Default and the Final Fantasy remakes on the Nintendo DS, but they have also been hinting at higher end development for a while now. Take Mizuchi, their extremely impressive rendering engine that is targeted at PlayStation 4 and PC. Today, the company confirmed that the engine would be at the upcoming Tokyo Games Show, that begins next week.

Alongside that announcement, they also released a bunch of new screenshots that show off the engine’s rendering power in all of its glory. They look pretty damn neat, and given the developmental chops of Silicon Studios, I wouldn’t mind seeing them attempt to take on PS4 and PC development.

You can check out the screenshots below. The Tokyo Games Show will begin next week, and we at GamingBolt will be doing our best to bring you all the information as and when it happens. Stay tuned.

AMD’s stock price saw a heavy rise in its trading prices in the wake of the renewed rumor that Microsoft is interested in buying the troubled chipmaker out. AMD has had severe financial issues in recent years, as in spite of its prominence in the gaming industry thanks to its chipsets powering all three current generation consoles, its products have largely failed to sell directly to the market, trailing behind rivals Intel and Nvidia.

The rumor caused AMD’s share price to close at $2.01 per share last week, a nearly 10% hike. It’s still a far cry from its year high of $4.11 last year, but it’s an impressive spike for a troubled stock.

Microsoft, who have recently diversified into hardware such as their own smartphones and tablets, will doubtless find AMD to be valuable to their overall plans, as they could design better, more efficient chips suited to their products and demands with some of the best talent in the industry. This would also cause them to get licensing money from the sale of every single PS4 and Wii U- filling up their coffers even more.

Whether or not there is any truth to these rumors remains to be seen. For now, though, AMD is doubtless enjoying the uptick in their stock trading.

Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode, their adventure game series set in the world of Minecraft, will be launching digitally on October 13, and physically at retail a week later on October 20, the publisher confirmed today.

The October 13 release date refers to the digital launch on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC; iOS and Android versions launch on October 15, and a physical launch across these same platforms is on October 20. The physical version will include only the first episode, though it will function as a ‘season pass,’ meaning once you get it, you have free access to all future episodes as and when they are released.

Also, the PS Vita and Wii U versions of the game are due to follow at a later date.

“One of the greatest things about this project is that it gives the community a chance to interact with the world of Minecraft in a new and different way,” said Mojang’s brand director Lydia Winters.

“It also marks the beginning of some exciting narrative-form content based on our game. We worked directly with Telltale on every step of the process. Together we’ve created a blend of the amazing narratives that Telltale creates with all the fun and adventure you know and love from Minecraft. It’s got everything: creepers, crafting, an incredible cast of characters, and even an adorable pig. How awesome does that sound?”

How does that sound, indeed? This is the first attempt at expanding the Minecraft brand beyond just the flagship brand- how it goes is something that remains to be seen.

Today we sat down with a very special guest Mr. Lauri Hyvärinen who is the CEO of Frozenbyte and the designer of Trine. Trine is already released on the PC and will be released on the European PSN store today.  Find out what he has to say regarding Trine and the future of the game.

GB:  Where did the original idea for Trine come from?

The original idea of a platformer game was our producer’s, and that came in 2006 and was based on some very old MSX game. What Trine is now was re-designed in early 2008, including three different characters and object conjuring. All the visuals have also been created during the last 16 months of development.

GB:  What were the main challenges your development team faced?

We usually ask ourselves “what didn’t go wrong”, because there were so many problems involved. Most of the problems were funding-related, as we worked most of the time on the edge (and sometimes past it), but there was also numerous problems coming from the fact the scope of the game was changing all the time, and adding a console platform in the middle of the development didn’t help either. However, although the road was very bumpy and virtually all

mistakes were made, we are very happy with the end result.

GB:  Why was the game priced more expensive for the PC version?

It’s a complex situation and related to the retail side of things (which we can’t influence). We couldn’t really do as we wanted, because there were so many partners involved. Our goal is always to be fair in pricing (between platforms and also between currencies) and I think we’re now getting a little bit closer.

GB:  Will we be seeing a sequel or expansion at some point in the near future?

There certainly will be more Trine at some point, but when or what kind, we can’t tell yet.:)

GB:  When can we see the PSN version come out and how different it will be as compared to the PC version?

The European PSN release is on Thursday 17th of September! North American release is hopefully not far behind.

GB:  Are there plans for an Xbox Live version?

We have lots of plans and a version actually running on the development tools, but again this is something that is not in our hands. We don’t really know what’s going to happen.

We would like to thank Mr. Lauri Hyvärinen and his team and wish them all the best. Checkout for the full review of Trine this week on GamingBolt.com.

Empire: Total War is the latest game in the Total War franchise, renowned for its huge battles, complex strategy and rewarding gameplay. This new iteration features several new gameplay elements such as naval combat, realistically modelled gunpowder weapons and more. As with the previous games, you will still be expected to take control of a fledgling country and turn it into an empire spanning the breadth of the map. And as many will be glad to hear, the map size is much bigger this go-round; Empire Total War lets you spread your kingdom through all of Europe and north Asia, all of North America, the Caribbean and India. This prospect will no doubt daunt both new and veteran players, as your campaign objectives will often require you to take over provinces all over the map. However, some of the ambitious features of the game fail to meet the polished standards of the previous games.

The Grand Campaign is where you will spend most of your time in E:TW. This allows you to take over any one of several nations, and, starting in the year 1700, strive to accomplish a set of objectives, involving capturing other provinces. The “long campaign” option stretches right across the whole of the 18th Century. Don’t be put off by the “short” 100-year campaign though; even a 50 year campaign will take a serious amount of time to complete, as one turn equals half a year. Through the campaign you must not only govern your empire?s armies, but also your people’s taxation and happiness, trade, diplomacy, subterfuge and technology. Unfortunately, the game has included the ineffective and redundant emissaries, now under the title “Gentlemen,” who are a cross between a diplomatic agent and a spy. As in the previous games, they serve very little purpose aside from watching the initially-entertaining clips which show the duels that you can send your Gentlemen to carry out killings of other Gentlemen. However, diplomacy has been sharpened up across the board, as you now no longer need to track down a rival king or agent in order to discuss international relations. A simple to use menu displays all the world powers set into groups of Major and Minor powers. From there you simply select the country you wish to contact, and you can choose from a number of options; from offering a trade deal, to asking for money, to declaring war.

Technology is another area of the game that is making a first appearance. First, you must build universities to research, them you choose to either study Military, Philosophyor Industry technologies. There are many highly useful technologies to be researched here, the most noticeable and impressive of which can be found inthe military section. For example, the Fire By Rank technology enables your first row of line infantry to fire, then duck while the row behind them fires.I have seen many an army of superior numbers crumble beneath by continuousbarrages of fire. The technology also presents you with some interesting choices; whether to focus on technology research by building several universities and wiping out your enemies through technological advances, or to go all outand recruit vast armies to steamroll your opponents with.

War does not have to always be won through superior numbers though. Dastardly actions of sabotage can bejust as effective and sending in the cavalry. Why waste men when you can put your enemies in a stranglehold by raiding their trade routes? Or why not send in missionaries to convert the population and cause uprisings in your favour? There are many ways to cripple nations in Empire Total War, but much depends on your playing style.

Nevertheless, you would be missing out on some of the most satisfying portions of the game by denying yourself from playing out the breathtaking real time battles. There is an autoresolve option with all the battles, but this must be taken with a pinch of salt. While the AI in real time battles is adequate, it does have a habit of throwing all its units at you at once, which means that a smart player withwell placed units and reserves can beat the AI while losing very few. And when the auto resolve throws two armies at each other in this way, be prepared to suffer heavy casualties. That?s not to say that the AI is all bad though; they will often attempt to flank and will attack you with skirmishers from long range to whittle you down. They target weak spots, and if you have any undefended artillery, be prepared to kiss goodbye to that canister shot barrage. The AI in the campaign is of a similar nature; generally rough around the edges, but with some glimmers of brilliance. They will sometimes declare war on you even if they have severely depleted armies, or will not notice if your conquering gradually takes you to their gates. However, they demonstrate some amount of tactics in that they will defend borders with forts and guard some of their trade routes.

Real time naval battles are the main new feature of this game though. Unfortunately, they are not all they are cracked up to be. While they do look incredible, and the feeling you get after seeing an enemy ship explode after a lucky shot hits the powder is awesome, they just don?t have a decent pace to them. The whole aspect feels clunky. And because the ships move so slowly, you will find yourself pressing the fast forward button a lot during naval battles. Poor AI is especially apparent in naval battles, as the computer will deploy the exact same strategy every match. They also never seem to change tactics either; the game offers you a choice between round shot (hull damage), grapeshot(crew damage) and chainshot(mast damage), however, the AI only ever uses round shot. They aren?t to keen on boarding ships either. However, despite these shortcomings, you owe it to yourself to play the best looking naval combat game out, if for no other reason than to see a rocket ship strike a direct hit.

The multiplayer in the game is limited as to its effectiveness, but it does offer a refreshing break from the repetitive AI, especially in naval battles. There are online and LAN options, and hosts can choose between siege battles, naval battles, standard land battles, historic battles and more. Unfortunately, if one person in a match quits, the game ends for everyone, which means you either have to be very patient with the public, or stick to playing your friends. Almost everyone uses the same tactic as well i.e. use rangers as a front line, and have a set of heavy infantry behind them to engage when the enemy get close. However, the multiplayer adds a bit of longevity to the game, but it?s not like a game of this calibre and size requires much thickening up. The Grand Campaign, with itsmany nations to choose can be played indefinitely, as no game will ever turn out the same way. One campaign will take around 15 hours to complete if you invest time in following routes of subterfuge and diplomacy as well as all outwar.

The graphics in this gameare outstanding. While the game does hold very high requirements for smooth, high quality play, the rewards are huge if you have a beefy system. Character models are fairly well detailed, and animations are smooth, even up close (NOTE: You can even go to a first person view of a unit in your army if you press “insert” in a real time battle, and when your man fires, the camera follows the bullet! You can pretend you?re playing 18th Century Quake!). And if you have a system capable of running it, the ability to put thousands of men on screen at once is simply awe inspiring.

It is well known that Empire Total War has some issues. Crashes to desktops are a common occurrence for some players, and general slowdowns are not uncommon. My system has experienced 6 crashes to desktop through the time it takes to play through 2 and a half grand campaigns, which, according to some, is good. Obviously it is not acceptable to have so many crashes, and other people have had more, but I believe that CA will fix this soon.

Put simply, Empire Total War is one of the best games of this year, and is far and away one of the best strategy games of the year; maybe even the best. The huge scope, the fantastic real time battles and the strategic depth have all come together to create a game that is a joy to play-even if it is a little rough around the edges.

This game was reviewed on the PC.

THE GOOD

Fantastic visuals, endless replayability, lengthy campaigns, massive real time battles

THE BAD

Multiplayer fairly stale, repetive soundbytes, stability issues

Final Verdict

Empire: Total War is one of the best games of this year, and is far and away one of the best strategy games of the year; maybe even the best.

How does it feel to play a hardcore Ninja just like Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden? It does feel very satisfying when you kick ass or slice and dice through enemies. Well if you are thinking that this is what you will get to do in Mini Ninjas that unfortunately the answer is No. Mini Ninja is a very subtle and a sweet take on the Ninja games genre.  Mini Ninja takes place in an era where the Evil Samurai has overtaken a small unknown village where he is converting every innocent animal in to evil samurais. Their aim is to capture the animals and the ninjas so that they convert them in to their own. The Ninja Master after sending ninjas after ninjas to fight against the evil armies finally sends two of his last remaining Ninjas: Hiro and Futo.  The story overall is pretty childish and will largely appeal to age groups from 12-15. The story for a surprise is pretty good and has the potential to suck you right in. But having said that Mini Ninjas is game you will love for its great game play and the ability to switch between different ninjas.

These Ninjas shuld be made in to stuffed toys very soon!

You will start off as Hiro. He is the main protagonist of the game. Now this little dude can pull of strange stunts. Other than running on walls or jumping from cliffs, Hiro can use his Kuji magic powers which he has to find through many of the ancient shrines scattered throughout the world. Some of the Kuji powers that Hiro can use are fireball, stone rains and the ability to chop off multiple enemies at once. Hiro’s basic attacks are kicks and punches and can be used in conjunction with Kuji magic. You can also switch to other ninjas in the game. Here is the complete list of the ninjas you can play as well as their special abilities:

Futo: Is huge and bulky. Fit for taking down huge enemies with his hammer. Suzume: Uses her flute to make her enemies dance. Once they are in the groove taking them down is easy. Shun: Bow and arrow specialist and can also use rockets to take down a bunch of enemies. Kunoichi: Her specialization lies in stick fighting and is highly effective against the invisible enemies. Tora: Has claws and can run pretty fast just like a Tiger.

Kuji magic is a alot of fun

All the above ninjas including Hiro are a ton of fun to play. Hiro can also use his cap to sail in lakes or also slide through ice. There are a number of enemies to be found in the game. The basic one includes the blue and the reds one. Though they both are basically the same, but the red ones take a lot more hitting before you can take them down. The huge enemies are basically produced from the bigger breed of animals like bears. Once you get rid of an enemy they will convert back to the animal they were made up of. There are a couple of interesting boss fights as well. You will be able to fight the following bosses:

Lumbering Fool: Basically uses a very long sword and has extremely thin legs. Timid Swimmer: You will be fighting this guy in water. Be prepared for some quick timed button events. Screeching Owl: This battle takes place when it’s snowing immensely. The catch here is you have to get upon this guy while flying to take it out.

All the boss battles require a sequence of quick button events and you will only be able to use Hiro during such sequences.

The visuals are very soothing to the eye

The graphics of the game are very soothing to the eye. This game reminded me so much of Okami. The beautiful environments, the colorful houses, the loveable characters are all pretty well done by the team at IO interactive. A game like Mini Ninjas does not need the graphical quality of a game like Uncharted 2, since the theme of the game is pretty much different and is targeted at a different age group. The voice acting is pretty good for the most part, but there are actually pretty less scenes where the character actually speaks. Music is perhaps one of the highest points in the game, with an amazing mix of flute and drums.

Mini Ninjas is a great game and it should be appreciated at a bigger scale. I mean we all know it’s a small budget game, but whatever limited resources the developers had, they really made the game shine. I really hope the team at IO Interactive develops  a sequel. Mini Ninja is a game that should be played this holiday season if you are getting bored of all the hardcore stuff around.

This game was reviewed on the Xbox 360.

THE GOOD

Great Visuals, Lovable cast of Ninjas, Kuji magic is a ton of fun, Interesting Boss battles

THE BAD

Too Short, Plot gets lost sometimes

Final Verdict

Mini Ninjas is a ton of fun to play and is easily one of the most underappreciated games of 2009.

We’ve been hearing an awful lot about the features of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L system. There was a new videolaunched not that long ago that is in the format of the old timey style that the fallout series is famous for and now we’ve got a brand new video in that same vein. This video focuses specifically on perception and shows how upgrading that skill can make your character that much better in this game world.

This is a new system from what the other Fallout 4 games have offered and that’s led to some feeling a bit unsure about what they can expect when they are trying to get their S.P.E.C.I.A.L. working right. Clearly Bethesda understood that they needed to bring a bit more information when it comes to figure out just how to make this system work. In pure Bethesda style they managed to make the instructional videos just vague enough that people still aren’t going to know exactly how to get this done until they get their hands on the game.

Judging by how the videos are coming out now, it appears we can expect a new video about once a week, and that will have us going into October with the entire series out there for you to check out. After that, it won’t be that much longer until you can actually get your hands on the game. Fallout 4 comes out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10, 2015. Until then, check out the video and brush up on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system.

In a new videofocused on customization, crafting and modding in Fallout 4, executive producer Todd Howard provided somewhat of a release period for the game’s mod tools.

Howard explained that though they will be out in “early 2016”, the overall timetable was described as “fuzzy”.

“We’re doing it [mods] on the PC in a similar manner to what we did with Skyrim. You’ll have all the PC mods, but what’s really exciting is we are finally bringing it to console.”

The mod tools for Fallout 4 will be extensive, allowing players to modify the game’s code and create their own quests, graphical overhauls and much more. Howard also stated that, “Once we get the creation kit out on PC, it’s then going to come to Xbox One.” It will be interesting to see what degree of freedom console players will have, if any, when it comes to creating their own mods.

Fallout 4 will be out on November 10th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Online 3, the competitive multiplayer mode included with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, will be going live on October 6th.

The studio also shared several new details on the different classes in the game, namely the Enforcer, Scout and Infiltrator. While the Enforcer is meant for running and gunning with heavy weapons and stamina, the Scout can use sniper rifles and is good for gathering information. It’s the Infiltrator which is best at close quarters combat and can employ stealth camouflage.

On top of this, players will have a chance to use Big Boss/Snake and Ocelot, with the former employing a rocket arm and the latter using dual revolvers. Some of the game modes were also detailed, primarily Bounty Hunter which sees two teams trying to reduce their tickets to zero. The twist is that using the Fulton on enemies resets the ticket score and can thus be very useful in certain situations.

What are your thoughts on Metal Gear Online 3? Let us know in the comments below.

Frictional Games’ SOMA has always been a rather strange beast. In previous trailers, we haven’t quite gotten a look at what’s haunting PATHOS-II, an underwater base where “the machines have started to think they are people”. This latest one is no different as a woman remembers her experiences in Taipei while the game’s environments are shown off in creepy fashion.

SOMA has been in development for quite a while, since 2010 to be more exact, and it’s a first person survival horror title much like Frictional’s Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The developer is leaning more towards science-fiction this time though honestly, it’s hard to tell who’s the enemy (or enemies) at this point.

Releasing on September 22nd, SOMA will be out on PS4, PC, Mac OS X and Linux. What are your thoughts on this latest trailer? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information as we near the game’s launch.

Rocksteady and WB Entertainment seem to have prematurely released the latest patch for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. As reported by Kotaku, the patch is in the beta stage and not ready for release with an update since releasing that reverses it. While somewhat unfortunate for those still waiting, those who used the patch have reported far better performance than before including a stable 60 FPS frame rate at max settings.

If the patch is working well to such an extent, this could also mean that it’s close to release. Initial reports did indicate that Rocksteady would be fixing issues by September and the plan still seems to be on track.

Batman: Arkham Knight released back in June for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. While its performance was praised on consoles, the PC version faced several frame rate issues, crashes, bugs and so on at launch causing WB Entertainment to withdraw it from sales. Stay tuned for more information on when the official patch releases.

A new glitch has been unearthed in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, that may prove to be problematic for quite a few players of the game- it seems to block gun skins from showing up in the game. While you can still select and load them in the pre-match selection screen, once the actual game starts, only the stock gun will show up.

This wouldn’t be an issue, but a lot of the gun skins were made available as pre-order bonuses; they can also be bought individually by players. This means that a lot of players are not getting to use something that they rightfully paid for.

Players are reporting that the glitch seems to go away with an uninstall and reinstall of the game, though of course, your own mileage may vary on this.

For now, we haven’t heard anything official from The Coalition or from Microsoft, though if they changes, we’ll of course keep you in the loop. Stay tuned.

The biggest pleasure for an artist or a creator is when others enjoy their work and creations. For Hideo Kojima, who poured his heart and soul into making Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, his dream project, even amidst growing adversity and hostility, the title probably holds even more significance than it would otherwise.

Which is why he came out straight up, and asked players if they are enjoying the game.

“Are you guys enjoying MGSV?” he askedon his Twitter. When fans gushed and responded that they were indeed enamored by his newest masterpiece, Kojima dropped some advice as to how to play the game. “Pls take a break time to time as this free infiltration exhausts you if playing for a long time,” he said. “Go back to MB between main missions, take a walk, or do the silly SIDE OPS to get mind reset. To tell the truth, since long ago I’ve stopped playing my game at home once it launched. I can watch someone playing just fine but I can’t do it by myself as I may find something I want to fix again thou I had played over and over during the development.”

At the very least, we can all tell Kojima that he made a great game- probably one that really doesn’t need much fixing at this point.

CD Projekt RED have decided to discount their flagship franchise, The Witcher, on their GoG store. All three games are available for discounted prices on the storefront- and since they are being sold through GoG, they will also all be DRM free.

You can get The Witcher for $1.49, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for $3, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for $42, and something called The Witcher Adventure Game that I did not even know existed until right about now for $4. Put together, these games cost about $50- less than the price of one new game. Plus, $42 for what is still the best game released this year is really not asking a whole lot.

You can also get The Witcher 3 for $42 on Xbox Live this week; the PC promotion will, meanwhile, last through September 10. For more on The Witcher, check out our reviews for the secondand thirdgames. And stay tuned for more coverage.

Psyonix’s Rocket League will be receiving some more DLC in the coming weeks but the developer is also busy preparingfor patch 1.05 which launches within the next two weeks.

Ranked Season 1 is also on the way and server are currently being prepped for the same. Servers will be going down tonight for scheduled database managementfrom 12 AM PST/3 AM EST/7 AM GMT for one hour so be prepared for that.

A group of former developers from BioWare, who were instrumental in the creation of Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Star Wars themed MMORPG from EA, have announced that they have formed a new studio today, and that they will be working on a new multiplayer game.

The studio is called QC Games, and it is based out of Austin, Texas. The studio is comprised of BioWare veterans who worked on games such as Shadow Realms, Rock Band, Dragon Age, Fable, and of course, Star Wars: The Old Republic. They will be working with Nexon for their new title.

“This agreement marks another milestone in growing our business in key markets, leveraging both the talents of our developer partners and our own knowledge of online games to provide AAA experiences that are customized for global tastes and audiences,” Nexon president and CEO Owen Mahoney said in a statement. “Dallas and the team of veterans he’s building at QC Games have played a part in creating some of the world’s most successful games, and we’re looking forward to helping them bring another hit title to market.”

“Having the freedom to bring our vision to life is paramount to me and my team, and working with Nexon America provides us creative control as well as deep support from a partner who understands the online market better than anyone else,” QC Games head Dallad Dickinson said. “Our goal as a studio is to create the highest quality games possible, and I feel this partnership, along with the first-class team who has joined me so far at QC Games, will make that a reality.”

As to what QC games created, we will keep you posted. Stay tuned.

As if the launch of Destiny’s Taken King wasn’t big enough, it’s Wednesday which means that we have an official Armsday weapons reset that has now gone live. Everyone’s favorite Arms dealer,  Banshee-44 has a brand new assortment of weapons that you can use in various missions without having to purchase them for a limited time. There are also bounties attached to these test weapons and should you complete those bounties you’ll be able to gain more cred with Banshee.

That doesn’t mean that you have to complete the bounties. While you have access to them you can use them however you want but will eventually see them disappear from your inventory. These will give you a chance to try out these weapons in order to possibly buy them later and you can try different play styles. This is especially helpful when talking about trying out the new crucibles that are coming along with The Taken King.

The bounty weapons are:
Omolon Test RR1 – Use against Fallen captains to gather data
Omolon Test HC1 – Make precision shots to gather data
Suros TSP-10 – Use against Hive targets
Hakke Test-A – Make double kills to gather data
Hakke Test-A (shotgun) – Use against Hive targets to gather data

The Armsday feature is a relatively new addition to Destiny and certainly seems to be yet another way Bungie has come up with to try and keep the core game feeling fresh without asking people to download huge content pieces. Happy hunting on Destiny’s Armsday.

Earlier this week, Nintendo finally announced a new President for the company, to replace Satoru Iwata, after his passing in July. Tatsumi Kimishima, the former head of Nintendo of America, and one who is in tune with the global market (he famously predicted that the Wii U would bomb- the only person within Nintendo to do so), who takes over the reigns of the company for a year.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer, at least, seems to be confident about Kimishima’s prospects. “I don’t know him but Nintendo is great gaming with amazing track record. I’m sure he’ll do great; I wish him well,” Spencer said, in response to a question on Twitter.

Kimishima, on his part, has confirmed that he plans to stay the course, and not deviate too much from the groundwork that Iwata laid down for the next few years. This includes the launch of the new NX console, Nintendo’s expansion into mobile gaming, as well as character and IP licensing initiatives, such as theme parks, movies, TVs, and Amiibo.

The trailer that revealed the long awaited expansion for Bloodborne yesterday showed off new weapons and equipment, but against older bosses, and largely in old locations. That said, it is very clear that there will be new areas to visit in the upcoming expansion- and the new art that we have gotten for the game confirms that.

First of all, the art just looks striking, and it seems to fit right in with Bloodborne’s creepy and unsettling look. The art seems to show us a brand new, sprawling indoor location, with a massive central tower, and loads of flights of stairs spreading out from them. It reminds me of the location of the miniboss battle in the Nightmare of Mensis (and it might just be that, but in a different time, although the art labels it the Clock Tower).

Bloodborne: The Old Hunters will launch on November 24, exclusively on PS4.

Ghost Games has made quite the big deal of what Need for Speed can offer players, as evidenced in the five different ways you can play the game. A new trailer has been released which further details these methods – Speed is all about winning races while Style focuses more on drifting and other stunts. Check it out below.

Some of the cooler events include Crew which lets you and other racers drive together while Outlaw is about evading and battling the police. All of these events go towards building up reputation so that the various icons eventually respect you. It also helps that you use the Build option to customize your ride, thus leading to that Need for Speed: Underground feel.

Need for Speed will be releasing for November 3rd on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Frontier Developments CEO David Braben took the time to conduct an AMA on Redditregarding Elite: Dangerous, the online sandbox-style space sim which is currently available for PC and Xbox One (it will be out for PS4 later).

Braben answered a number of questions regarding the game. He confirmedthat the Xbox One version would sync up with the PC version in terms of player base and exploration and this will occur on October 6th when the full game releases. It also seems that the Xbox One version has been well received and he also stated that more information on Horizons would be available in the coming weeks.

Note that this release date isn’t confirmed. Braben later clarifiedthat October 6th is the date the team is currently “the one we are aiming for”.

Another query was asked regarding whether mods would be supported in the Xbox One version of Elite: Dangerous. Given games like Fallout 4 are supporting the same, would Elite: Dangerous possibly feature the same? Braben responded that, “It’s something we’ll look at, but this is a challenge on console. Certainly I cannot promise anything.”

Braben also talkeda bit about Kinect and its potential, though his response pretty much summed up the device’s current status. “I think it is a great piece of kit, though of course not everyone has one any more…”

Speaking of Kinect, Elite: Dangerous supports voice communication through the motion camera. However as Braben states, “Kinect headtracking is not currently in our plans.” Sorry, Kinect fans – your time has come and gone.

An interesting query was asked about the current state of one’s commanders with one user reporting that his commander was the same in both versions. Would the Xbox One commander become the PC commander and vice versa when the game ships? Braben stated that, “Xbox is currently in the GPP (Game Preview Program), so has a ‘parallel world’ to enable testing. When we release we will sync the two worlds.”

Finally, one user inquiredabout Elite: Dangerous’s involvement in the Game Preview Program and how it allowed the game to come to consoles sooner than it normally would have. “The GPP is great. It brings an approach to console we haven’t seen before. More updates to come!”

Thoughts on Elite: Dangerous at this point? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more details.

Rise of the Tomb Raider, the follow up to the Tomb Raider reboot back in 2013, will launch on the PlayStation 4, a full year after the game launches on the Xbox One later this year. This obviously gives Microsoft an upper hand for the last quarter of 2015. So how does this deal affects Sony and its highly successful console, the PS4? GamingBolt recently caught up with India’s PlayStation boss, Atindriya Bose and asked him about his thoughts on this timed exclusivity deal for the Rise of the Tomb Raider.

“These are strategies and partnerships that are drawn up at the world level. But whenever it comes in players will have it. See, there are two competitors playing with certain strategies. We have to look at what are the best things in our portfolio and what differentiators are there and to what extent it covers up certain gaps that we may be having,” Bose explained to GamingBolt. “The other competitor is also not going to fit without doing anything. These strategies happens between the platform owners and the developers.”

Bose expressed his confidence in the upcoming PS4 games line for 2015 and 2016and according to him the delay should not be a cause of concern.

“But in terms of whenever it happens [the game’s release on PS4], there should not be any concern about its availability. I am not too concern about this delay but there should not be any concerns about its availability. In terms of distribution between ours and the third parties, making them available in the market, I think we have created an infrastructure that can take that ahead.”

It’s important to note that Bose’s comments are from an Indian market perspective but his comments indicate that Sony is confident about its strong games line up for 2016 which includes the likes of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero: Dawn and The Last Guardian.

Speaking about The Last Guardian, Bose stated that the title has created a lot of inquisitiveness among gamers and the delay has actually helped the game get more exposure.

“There is a high level of inquisitiveness about the title which if properly harnessed, it can do pretty well. It will still require IP creation for the Indian market. It’s a very unique title and it has a story based approach so in order to harness the inquisitiveness, there will be a bit of investment here. “[The delay] This has worked in our favor in creating an inquisitiveness and creating an IP on the basis of PR it has generated here.”

Stay tuned for our full interview with Bose in the coming days as we near the end of our month long coverage of PlayStation in India.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had a difficult launch, but it appears things are finally getting better- the servers for the Xbox One version, for example, finally seem to be online now. This means that a lot of passively online functions that are nonetheless integral to the single player experience, such as FOBs, are now accessible to the players.

This follows Konami having to take multiple features of the game offline in an attempt to manage server strain yesterday; we reported on the issues earlier this week, and suggested that it might be for the best to just play the game in offline mode for now.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is out now on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. It is the final game in the Metal Gear cycle, bringing Big Boss’ story full circle, and finally showing us his transformation from the celebrated war hero to mercenary terrorist.

The Creative Assembly and Sega’s upcoming Total War: Warhammer just got a brand new in engine gameplay video, which revealed several new exciting additions to the game. These additions include Dwarfs, as well as underground battles.

Dwarfs are great miners and smiths, with great defensive buffs thanks to their armor, as well as some of the finest weaponry in the world. The addition of underground battles also marks a first for the Total War series- subterranean battles have never yet appeared in Total War before. Their addition should mark a significant change to how Total War plays.

That, plus new footage from the game being rendered in engine, is always a good excuse to give the new trailer a look. Check it our for yourself, and make sure to tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Total War: Warhammer is slated to launch exclusively on PC some time next year.

S ony’s conference for the Tokyo Game Show yesterday was scintillating, and a reminder of just how great game press conferences and shows can be. At just one and a half hours long, it was the shortest major showing by Sony in recent memory, but that was not because of a lack of content- Sony achieved this by cutting out all the bloat, and focusing on good pacing.

For a company that always likes to take detours to pointless side endeavors in their conferences, such as misguided attempts at a PlayStation original TV series, or fill them up with pointless montages to pad out time and make it seem like they have more content than they really do, the PlayStation TGS conference yesterday was almost dramatically refreshing.

From start to end, the conference was tight, fast paced, and no nonsense. There was almost no break- Sony started out with showing games, continued showing games with literally no breaks and gaps in the middle, except for the requisite ones necessary to invite third party executives on stage, and sometimes, out of nowhere, we’d get a new game just casually announced via a trailer that would play on the screen without warning.

"This is precisely the kind of format that all game press conferences should strive for"

This is precisely the kind of format that all game press conferences should strive for- the TGS conference yesterday is a study in contrast, compared to the big E3 and Gamescom shows that Sony and Microsoft put up every year. Without the bloat, all we got was an avalanche of game showings and announcements- the focus was just on the games , damn it, rather than the obviously rehearsed and cringe inducing banter that company executives put up on stage, pointless video montages, or projects that only vaguely and tangentially relate to the games on hand. There was no pontificating on the future of the industry by paid presenters or executives who clearly don’t actually care about games, but are just saying so because they are paid to. There really wasn’t much of a presentation at all, honestly- from frontend to backend, it was just a string of trailers and announcements.

And what trailers and announcements they were, too. Yesterday’s TGS showing is probably the strongest denouement of the ‘Japanese games industry is dying’ narrative that has been pushed so hard over the last few years. What we saw yesterday recalled the best days of Japanese games, from the SNES and PS1 eras. Major franchises such as Kingdom Hearts, Dark Souls, Persona, Yakuza, Resident Evil, and Dragon Quest were on show, mid tier games and publishers such as Toukiden 2, New DanganRonpa 3, King of Fighters, SaGa, and Star Ocean were shown off, every major third party – from Square Enix to Atlus, Tecmo Koei to Capcom, Sega to Spike Chunsoft to From – had a major, exciting product waiting in the wings, and moreover, some extremely impressive first party games were on display too- the long awaited expansion for this year’s smash hit Bloodborne, The Old Hunters, was finally unveiled, as was the sequel to the fan favorite PS Vita game Gravity Rush.

The best part is, most of these announcements were games we will obviously see in the west- too often, in the last few years, watching a Japanese conference has felt like watching a celebration of Japan’s insularity from the rest of the world. That was not the case yesterday- obviously we will see the new Dark Souls in the west. Obviously we will see Kingdom Hearts in the west. Of course DanganRonpa and Toukiden are coming to the west. Of course will Ni-Oh get a western release.

"Yesterday’s TGS showing is probably the strongest denouement of the ‘Japanese games industry is dying’ narrative that has been pushed so hard over the last few years."

But for western gamers, if that was not enough, there was a good amount of western content on display too. From Ubisoft taking the stage to not only showcase their intriguing action game For Honor, to them announcing the Season Pass and Jack the Ripper DLC for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, from a segment on the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, to a brand new trailer for the eagerly anticipated Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, there was just enough content here to keep even the most jaded and cynical western gamer interested in this very Japanese show.

In a showing that was as packed with content as this was, there was very little downtime too. Yes, for example, Sony took some time to talk about their upcoming VR initiative, but it was only a couple of minutes, and both of those minutes were packed with relevant information- the final name of the accessory (now confirmed to be PlayStation VR), as well as some of the VR enabled games that would be playable on the showfloor. We had a segment on PS Now, but it was only a brief video followed by some pricing details, and then we were done. And even this segment of the show had some major announcements- the PS4 price drop, for example.

"Sony’s TGS show yesterday is the new (old) standard- this is what all game press showings should be like."

All in all, it was an extremely strong showing, filled with an enviable amount of great content, and making a great case for the future of PS4, in Japan and worldwide, and for the future of the Japanese games industry at large. The format was amazing, focusing on just the games and nothing else (because we really only tune in to these shows to learn about the games), and there was not a single moment of downtime. In an industry that has increasingly become more and more about celebrating its own bloated and smug self, putting on three hour long shows with not enough content to fill them up, and rife with needless spectacle, yesterday’s TGS show was a reminder of what game conferences used to be like, and what they should be, going forward. Sony’s TGS show yesterday is the new (old) standard- this is what all game press showings should be like.

Better than Sony’s E3 showings? Yes, easily, for the last few years, at that, and also better than the PlayStation Experience. Better than Microsoft’s E3 shows? Another affirmative. Better than Microsoft’s Gamescom? Yeah. Even if you didn’t care much for what was announced, how it was announced is commendable and should be credited as such. Let us hope for more such shows going forward.

Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Prologue, which I really hope is the last ridiculously named Kingdom Hearts release that I have to cover before Kingdom Hearts III is finally a reality, was announced at Sony’s TGS press showing earlier this week; the game will include an HD remaster of the 3DS game Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, as well as a brand new chapter taking place after the PSP game Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, and cinematics from Kingdom Hearts Unchained Chi.

If you want to see more of the – game? – in action, here’s a brand new trailer for it that you can check out for yourself below. This collection will lead directly into Kingdom Hearts III, which I really hope launches next year, before another stupidly named Kingdom Hearts collection comes along.

It will release exclusively for the PS4. Stay tuned, and let us know in the comments section what you think of the new trailer.

God of War III has some stiff competition as Dante’s Inferno is about as epic as they come.

When talking about 2010 there are a few titles that immediately come to mind. Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, and especially God of War III rank among the most anticipated. Having now played Dante’s Inferno I can say without a doubt that it not only deserves to rank up there next to God of War III, but it has the potential to surpass it. A bold statement I know, but play the demo and you will understand.

For those who haven’t been following the game, Dante’s Inferno is based on the Divine Comedy written by Dante Alighieri. You must battle through the Nine Circles of Hell to reclaim your love Beatrice. You start off as a simple member of the Crusade in the religious wars that took place in the 12 thcentury in the Middle East. Prisoners break free of their cages and begin to attack you. The combat style is almost directly copied from God of War but that is by no means a bad thing. Your combos flow well, though not as smoothly as in God of War. Upon dispatching the attacking prisoners a burning ship crashes near you granting you passage into the next area.

Shortly afterwards you are stabbed in the back by a surviving prisoner. Death comes to claim your soul and you are told that your actions have damned you to eternal torment. Dante, none too pleased at discovering this after all the Crusaders were forgiven for their sins by the Bishop, tells Death that he will redeem his soul. You are thrown into battle against Death so that you may save yourself from eternal damnation. In the final blows of the battle you not only claim Death’s scythe as your own, but you slay him with it in a God of War style quick time event.

Expect some epic boss fights in each of the Nine Circles.

After a brief cut scene, shown in a style similar to the pre-launch Dead Space motion comics, you return home to see Beatrice and begin your quest toward redemption. However things never seem to work out that easy and you find Beatrice dead. Minions of Hell take her soul and leave you to dispatch those that remain. At this point you gain access to the upgrade menus. Upgrades run much deeper than in God of War. There are two skill trees, Unholy and Holy, which feature different types of abilities. Using the souls gathered from fallen enemies you unlock new abilities such as new attacks and abilities or improvements to ones you already possess. You can gain favor in one tree or the other in how you kill your enemies. When you grapple an enemy you have the choice to punish or save them. Your choice will progress that particular skill tree granting you more abilities of that type.

As you chase Beatrice you will enter a church being torn apart to reveal the depths of Hell beneath it. You will press on fighting through traps and other obstacles as you continue lower and lower. Finally you will reach a poet, likely meant to symbolize Dante Alighieri, whom Beatrice asked to act as your guide. He grants you your first spell and you will be introduced to new enemies. The new enemies are similar to the Minotaur in God of War. As if you couldn’t already tell having experience in God of War will make this game an easier experience.

Once the final creature has been slain a giant boss monster breaks through the wall. Once you have weakened it enough you kill its master and take control of the creature yourself. More creatures spawn around you but they are no match for the strength of your beast. The demo ends in the worst place possible, as you open what appears to be the door to Hell itself.

Nothing will stop Dante from his goal.

Now I realize that I said several times that this or that felt like God of War. While the game is very similar, it manages to feel like an entirely different experience with its story. Rather than the classic tale of vengeance found in God of War you are driven by desire in Dante’s Inferno. The desire to reclaim your love, the desire for redemption, and most importantly, the desire to see what happens next. Dante’s Inferno has an excellent story to drive it forward and keep it feeling fresh.

As a side note, the game looks fantastic and runs at an oh so smooth 60 frames per-second throughout. The art style is truly hellish and sets up a great atmosphere. There is no doubt in my mind that Dante’s Inferno will be a fantastic game when it releases and will be one of the top games 2010 has to offer. The only question now is whether or not the veteran badass Kratos will be able to keep up or if Dante will steal his thunder.

Dante’s Inferno is set to release on February 9 th2010 on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PSP. The demo is available now on the Playstation Network and will be available on December 24 thon Xbox Live.

It’s an adage as old as ti- well, this generation. If a major game with online functionality release, it will have server issues at launch (unless, ironically enough, it is a Nintendo game). We saw it happen with Battlefield 4, DriveClub, Halo: The Master Chief Collection… and now, it is happening with Konami’s just released Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which is being plagued with server issues even now, a couple of days since its initial launch.

Konami has been limiting online access and functionality to ensure things remain smooth, but for now, you might be better off simply playing the game offline- at least you won’t be dealing with the server issues then, and your game will run far faster.

Now just imagine if they had gone ahead with the original plan, and Metal Gear Online had also launched alongside the main game. It would have been a bloodbath.

Final Fantasy 15 itself, the fifteenth mainline entry in Square’s long running RPG saga, is due for release on PS4 and Xbox One some time next year. The game, which started development over a decade ago as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, is looking like it will be a legitimate return to form for the franchise if – when – it releases.

In keeping with their theme of giving you a highly personalized and customized experience in the upcoming NBA 2K16, 2K Sports today announced that they are partnering with real life apparel brands, such as Mitchell & Ness, Adidas, Stance, Under Armour, Jordan Brand, Pigalle & Nike, to add a lot of authentic gear to the game that players will then be able to choose in an almost endless array of permutations and combinations to customize their look throughout their career.

It’s a very minor detail, but it’s undoubtedly going to appeal to enthusiasts, and to players who really want to project themselves into the game and really chart their own career through the NBA ranks. It also fits in neatly with the whole ‘Be The Story’ angle that 2K Sports is pushing with this year’s game.

NBA 2K16 is set to launch on September 29 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. Stay tuned for more coverage.

Dishonored 2 was officially unveiled at this year’s E3 and while we knew there were a couple of changesto this game when compared to the original, we just got a brand new video that shows off a new territory in the world of this video game. The new trailer shows off a place called Karnaca which is apparently the “jewel of the Southern territory in this game.” Arkane’s Co-Creative Director Harvey Smith sat down in the video and explained some of the reasons that the video is centering on this particular portion of the world.

It appears that the game’s creators want to make a very immersive world that feels like our own, with a few changes here and there. Smith says that this place isn’t exactly like the real world, but it’s close to what you might expect to see in our world in the 1850’s. Of course, there are plenty things in the world of Dishonored 2 that aren’t really similar at all to what you would expect to find in the world of the 1850’s.

Smith introduces us to one of the native creatures of Karnaca. These creatures are called “Blood Flies” and they are a nasty looking insect. He also explains that these things are going to be popping up more and more, depending on how many dead bodies are laying around. Smith says clearing the streets of these bodies in order to avoid a really bad situation. Check out the video, get acclimated to Karnaca and wait for the release of Dishonored 2.

Looks like all of Bungie’s promises for Destiny with The Taken King were accepted on face value, because the release of the expansion for the game, which represents a complete overhaul of the game’s mechanics and structure, set records- it is the most downloaded game on its first day ever, in history, period.

The game set even more records- it set the record for peak online players concurrently in a single game, breaking the previous record that Destiny itself had set over a year ago.

It makes sense- The Taken king is a significant overhaul of game mechanics, and is the most fleshed out realization of Destiny’s potential and promise yet. It is also pretty much mandatory to continue playing Destiny beyond this point, so it makes sense that the game’s vast and significant player base would all have upgraded their game and jumped in. It is good to know, however, that there were no major server issues in spite of all of this traffic. Hopefully that becomes the norm for all games going forward.

We’ve seen a number of videosreleased for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and quite a few of them have certainly been pretty. Despite just how good this game looks on a number of different settings, it’s hard to argue with the beauty of 4K settings when you actually get to lay your eyes on them. The website Games Under Pressurehas released a new video showing the game off with all of the PC settings maxed out and running on a 4K screen.

There is very little doubt that this really is the best way to view the game. Of course, the chance that you are going to be able to actually play the game with every setting to the max and on a 4K screen are probably pretty slim. That takes a rather impressive combination of top of the line equipment inside the machine, as well as on the actual video monitor. The game released on September 1 and it appears that most of the people who have gotten their hands on it are quite in love with it.

One of the reasons the game has gotten people as excited as they about this title is because it was the last one made by Kojima. That hasn’t completely colored the way people have looked at the game. It has actually stood on its own two feet as being a title that is fun to play and fun to look at. You’ll enjoying looking at it in this long video, especially if you haven’t actually made the decision to buy Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

When you had bought your PC gaming first, you may have liked its looks. But after having seen it in the same design for more than a year it can become boring. It becomes like a eyesore and you want to replace it with some other, better gaming PC. While you can’t buy a new PC every now and then, you can try out the mods that make your PC look new  and unique. These mods that I have collected are the best ones you can find anywhere. You will surely love most of them. So, here is the list of best Gaming PC Mods available out there. The numbering is completely random and is not based on any kind of ranking.

11. Wooden Mod

This one is for the kings. Looking at the image below, I must really appreciate the imagination of the guy who developed this. Just see see the designs and the curves given to the case, its a very nice combination of some 14th century Indian architecture and royal color of gold. The selling point is the skull coming out of the case.

10. Original PC design Mod:

Well this one looks like an Apple PCright from the late 1980’s. The really stunning wooden finish and glossy look and feel should make you feel that you are using a Apple PC which can actually run high definition games. A nice pick for the old school gamers.

9. Girl Mod:

Well what can get better than a beautiful girl standing in a bikini in front of you while you are gaming. This one is for the gamers who want an adrenaline push while you are not able to defeat a annoying boss; oh you know what I mean, right?

8. Telephone Mod:

This is really a classical incarnation of a telephone which many of you guys must have used in the early 1980’s. The real catch point is that you can actually make calls while playing games on your PC. Talk about innovation!

7. Next Gen Mod:

This one is a bit difficult to describe since the design is a bit complex. It really looks like a next generation design which really doesn’t not resemble any object whatsoever. The closest I can think of is the upper body of a BMW motorbike. Overall the look is very appealing and stunning.

6. Cold Drinks Mod:

Well we all know that cold drinks and games go hand in hand. This one is specially made for those who feel thirsty and are too lazy to get up and quench their thirst.

5. Steam Valve design:

Much like the PlayStation 3 modwe showed you a few days ago, this is again a great imagination and passion shown by the one who developed this. This is much better than the PlayStation 3 one, and its has all sorts of stuff like meters, valves, pipes etc.

4. Server Mod:

Again just like the Next Gen Mod, this one too is pretty difficult to describe. However this looks more like a server. I mean the casing and the design makes it look like one. It also resembles the robots which we used to see in our childhood. Talk about imagination!

3. Pyramid Mod:

Developed in the shape of a pyramid, this one is attractive to look at. Its value and appeal is further enlightened by the glowing LED’s different colors.

2. PC on Wheels:

Taking inspiration from trolleys, this mod will be useful for people who want to shift their gaming PC from one room to another. I mean cant you guys just carry them away? Well we are gamers and we are lazy!

1. Proton Pack Mod:

We all loved Ghost Busters right when we first saw them on television. This one is for the fans, and the really rusty looks make it feel like its proton pack for real. While it might not be developed from the same inspiration, it certainly looks close.
